Projects

The following are portfolio project options for including in your e-portfolio. i-Grady portfolio students must complete two projects before their advising hold will be lifted every semester.

First semester students must choose either the Holland Interest Inventory OR Type Focus assessment project as one of your two first-semester projects. 

Holland Interest Inventory

Take the Holland Interest Inventory to determine your interests and related job zones and career paths. After answering a series of reflective questions, determine which co-curricular involves and courses best fit your set of current and emerging interests.

Please take the following personality assessments at https://v6.typefocus.com/. You will need to create a log-in (password: uga4400).

You should complete at least the first and third assessment but it is also recommended that you complete the second assessment as well. When you have competed the assessments, please answer the reflective questions.

Managing Your Time Wisely

Time management presents one of the largest challenges faced by first-year college students. Thankfully, this essential skill can be learned by taking the time to analyze how you spend your time and develop strategies for utilizing this precious resource wisely.








Career Focus Research

For this assignment, you will be researching 3 professions that interest you. You will investigate what these professions entail and write a reflection piece after completing your research. 


Instructions: 

Choose three possible professions you think you might be interested in and look them up in the Occupational Outlook Handbook. Write a brief reflection for each profession based on what you learn from the handbook. Make sure to look at the following tabs: What They Do, How to Become One, Pay, Job Outlook, and Similar Occupations.

Core to Career Connections

The Core to Career project helps you to analyze the types of skills, knowledge, and abilities required for your occupation of choice and build connections between these and your general education core courses. By strategically choosing your core classes, you can begin building the experience you need for the job(s) you want before you begin taking major classes.








Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate

The UGA Career Center's Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate is designed to develop a strong sense of professionalism in students. The certificate covers a wide range of professional development topics that will be useful to pre-professional mass communications students, like yourself. This project requires you attend three of the five Arch Ready events you need to earn the certificate and lapel pin. We encourage students attend all five events to earn the certificate.

Professional Communication

Professional communication is a necessary soft skill that individuals must learn in order to effectively navigate their working environment. The goal of this assignment is to practice professional communication by engaging with a faculty member or another higher education professional. 










Spring semester project only:

End of the Year Reflection Assignment

This assignment will require thoughtful introspection of your experiences of the past academic year and to reassess where you are at in your life and where you want to go. 

Read the article  at  http://career.uga.edu/news/reflections_for_first_second_year_students and then answer the reflection questions. Remember to add the answers to the reflection questions to your e-portfolio!
